Dial-up Set Up: Mac OS 8.5 - 9.22


Mac OS® 8.5 - 9.2.2

Follow the steps below to configure the Internet connection in Mac OS® 8.5 through Mac OS® 9.2.2.


[IMAGE] Configure the [Modem] control panel

1. Click [Apple] menu and choose [Control Panel] - [Modem].

2. Refer to the following chart, choose modem and settings for your need.

Items Internal Modem External Modem
Connect Via Internal Modem Modem Port
Modem (Name of your modem)
Speaker (Usually On)
Dial (Usually "Tone")
Ignore Dial Tone (Usually Uncheck)

* If you cannot see the name of your modem in [Modem] menu, you have to copy CCL file to [System] - [Extentions] - [Modem Scripts] folder. Please refer to the modem manual which comes with your modem.

3. Click close box (x) to close the [Modem] control panel.

[IMAGE] Configure the [TCP/IP] Control Panel

1. Click [Apple] menu and choose [Control Panel] - [TCP/IP].

2. Refere to the following chart, configure each item in the [TCP/IP] control panel.

Subnet mask < will be supplied by server >

3. Click on the close box.

4. Click the [Save] button.

1. Click [Apple] menu and choose [Control Panel] - [Remote Access].

2. Refere to the following chart, configure each item in the [Remote Access] control panel.

- Registered User
Name (Your PPP account name)
EX.) jn/pb000000
Password (Your PPP account password)
Save Password (Checked)
Number Your local JapanNet's access number

3. Click on the [Connect] button. You should be able to connect to JapanNet now.
