Dial-up Set Up: Windows® XP


Microsoft® Windows® Vista

The following are the instructions on how to configure the dialup Internet connection via JapanNet with Microsoft Vista machine.  It is assumed that the modem is installed in your PC and is ready to use.

This is just an example of the dialup connection settings.There are other ways of doing this.
Also, you might need the additional settings depending on your hardware configuration or your network environment.  JapanNet is not responsible for any kind of damages due to the installation following the instructions below.

1. Click the [Start] button and select [Control Panel].

2. Double-click the [Network and Sharing Center] icon.

3. Choose “Setup a connection" from the [Tasks] column.

4. When the “Choose a connection option” window appears, select [Set up a dial-up connection] from the menu options and click the [Next] button.

5. Type the following information in the each field and click the [Connect] button.

Dial-up phone number        

Enter the local phone number for your area or the nearest one to you to get access with JapanNet.

User name

Enter PPP Account
e.g. jn/pb000000

Password

Enter PPP Password

Connection name

 JapanNet

[IMPORTANT] The number you enter in the dial-up phone number field should be exactly the same as the number you need to dial from the location of your PC to the JapanNet access number.  Depending on where you live, you still might need to dial the area code even within the same area (e.g. NY).  From a hotel or an office, if you need to dial an access number to make an outside call (e.g. “0” or “9”), please include it as well as the access number.  If you are not sure what number to dial to make the outside call, please contact your local telephone carrier or the front Desk at the hotel.

Once you have entered all that information, click the [Connect] button.

6. VISTA will now attempt to use you new dialup connection before saving your work. Once it has determined that the connection was setup correctly, it will connect you to JapanNet.

7. Once your connection has been successfully created, you will get the following screen. Select the [Close] button.

8. [How to access to JapanNet after the dial-up setup is completed].

To connect to the Internet, click the [Start] button and select [Control Panel] > [Network and Sharing Center] > [Connect to a network].  In the “Select a network to connect to” window, double-click on [JapanNet] or select [JapanNet] and click [Connect].

9. Click the [Dial] button after the window appears below.                 * If you see "[TO CHANGE THE SAVED PASSWORD,CLICK HERE]" in the password field as shown below, leave it alone
