Dial-up Set Up: Internet Connection Wizard


Internet Connection Wizard

Follow the steps below to set up dial-up connection using Internet Connection Wizard.
(For Windows® 95, Windows® 98, Windows® Me, Windows® 2000)


1. Double-click the [Internet Connection Wizard] Icon on your desk-top.
* If [Internet Connection Wizard] is not on your desk-top, click [Start] - [Program] - [Accessaries] - [Communications]. [Internet Connection Wizard] is in the [Communications Box].

2. Select "I want to set up my Internet Connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)" to access to JapanNet and click the [Next] button.

3. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" and click the [Next] button.

4. [Installation of new modem Wizard] appears in case that the first modem is installed or plural modems are already installed. Set up configuration of the modem as the message in the wizard. (Ask the details to PC or Modem Maker.) Click the [Finish] button.
* The wizard does not appear in case that a modem has already been installed. See the next instruction.

5. Type your nearest JapanNet access number in the [Area code] box and the [Telephone number] box. Remember to check with your local telephone company to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll call.

6. Click the [Advanced...] button and select the [Connection] tag.

7. Type in following information in appropriate boxes in the [Connection] tag and then click the [OK] button. It let you return to the [Internet Connection Wizard]. Click the [Next] button.

IP address Internet service provider automatically provides one
DNS server address Always use the following
Primary DNS Server 209.137.136.3
Alternate DNS Server 209.137.146.2

Type in following information and then click the [Next] button.

User name (Your PPP account name)
EX.) jn/pb000000
Password (Your PPP account password)

9. Type "JapanNet" or whatever you like to name for this connection in the [Connection name] box. Click the [Next] button.

10. Click "Yes" if you want to set up Internet mail account of Microsoft Outlook Express and click the [Next] button.
* Click "No" if Internet mail account is already set up or you want to use other E-mail Software and click the [Next] button. Go to Step-15 in this instruction.

11. Type whatever you like to name as the sender of E-mail in the [Display name] box and click the [Next] button.

12. Type your E-mail address in the [E-mail address] box and click the [Next] button.

13. Type following information in each box and click the [Next] button.

My incoming mail server is POP3
Incoming mail server mail.kdd.net
Outgoing mail server smtp.kdd.net

14. Type following information in each box and click the [Next] button.

Account name (Your e-mail account name)
EX.) mb000000
Password (Your e-mail account password)
Save password (Checked)

WARNING: Do NOT check the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" box. If you checked, you will get error and will not be able to get e-mail messeges when you connect to JapanNet's mail server.


15. The setting will be finished at the "Completing the Internet Connection Wizard". Leave checking in the check box, "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and them click Finish" and complete the setting by clicking the [Finish] button.

16. "Dial-up Connection" is coming up. Click the [Connect] button.

17. When you can connect to JapanNet's access point, you will see the following icon in the right-bottom position in the task tray. Enjoy your Internet life!
